Ribbon Cutting: Newk’s Eatery

Sep 8, 10:30am

Newk's Eatery - New Braunfels, TX

Please join us in welcoming Newk’s Eatery to the New Braunfels business community! Exceptional without exception. We are in the restaurant business because we love food. We love experiencing food. We love preparing food. We love serving food. And we live to perfect it. Newk’s was founded in 2004 by Don Newcomb, Debra Bryson and Chris Newcomb. The team had previously created and launched the McAlister’s Deli concept. Led by their exacting and trend-setting vision, it quickly became one of the fastest growing fast casual restaurants of the time. After establishing strong upward growth for McAlister’s Deli, the founding team sold the chain and soon began to focus on their new venture – Newk’s Eatery. As Chris Newcomb tested and perfected menu items, it became apparent this venture would more closely reflect the team’s personal passion in the kitchen. As a matter of fact, many of the staple menu items were born from treasured Newcomb family recipes. Thus “Newk’s” was born – an abbreviated homage to the “Newcomb” cookbook. With that name comes a commitment to continually create extraordinary meals and experiences for our guests. We live for the tantalizing smells, sights, tastes and textures of meals that are made to perfection. We are obsessed with discovering new recipes and reimagining old favorites – especially our Newcomb Family Recipes. We insist on sourcing the finest ingredients. Nothing is pre-chopped, pre-sliced or pre-packaged. We are uncompromising about quality from kitchen to table and our dedication to personal service. That’s a passion shared by everyone you will meet at Newk’s.

Natural Resources Committee Meeting

Sep 3, 11:45am

New Braunfels Chamber

Mesquite Creek Landfill—It’s Not Just Garbage The Chamber’s Natural Resources Committee will meet on September 3, for their regular quarterly lunch meeting in Honors Hall at 11:45 am. Greg Swoboda, committee chairman, will preside. This Chamber committee works on topics and issues that pertain to the local environment such as water, spring flow, air quality, sustainable energy, land and soil management, and much more. James Smith, Mesquite Creek Landfill Manager for Waste Management, will present the program. Waste Management is the site manager for New Braunfels and Comal County’s local landfill located on FM 1101, two miles east of Creekside. This 200+ acre landfill provides a location for all of the solid waste produced in New Braunfels. In addition to being a landfill, Waste Management and NBU partnered on a small methane fired power plant in 2005. The methane produced by the landfill is captured and used to produce power at the generating station located on the landfill property. To reserve your $6 box lunch contact Shana Slatter at shana@innewbraunfels.com. The Natural Resources Committee provides information and resources to Chamber members in the areas of water, air and environmental topics and information. For more information on this committee, or any of the Chamber’s committees, visit www.CommitteesInNewBraunfels.com.
