The 2016 class of Youth Leadership New Braunfels marks the 19th class of local high school sophomores and juniors to go through this program, which has graduated more than 500 students. The roster includes 12 students from Canyon High School, four from St. John Paul II Catholic High School, four students from New Braunfels Christian Academy and 12 students from New Braunfels High School. The program kicked off with a reception with the students and their guardians, Chamber officials, and school officials celebrating the talented students who were selected to participate. The class then participated in a day-long leadership and team building retreat. After that, the class meets monthly for seven school-day sessions covering topics such as leadership skills, tourism, business and economic development, history, arts, government, the justice system, health care, and education. Upon meeting the attendance and participation requirements, the students will be honored at a graduation ceremony in April.

The Leadership New Braunfels Alumni Association is providing its members with the opportunity to hear from the candidates and to learn about the issues they will be voting on in the March 1st Primary Elections. The Republican ballot will include four propositions and contested races for the Texas House of Representatives District 73 Representative, the Comal County Commissioner Precinct 1 seat, and Comal County Sheriff. The Democratic ballot will include six Referenda but there are no contested races at the state and local level on the Democratic ballot. Early voting will begin February 16 so this is the perfect opportunity for LNB Alumni to gain insight into the candidates and issues that are up for vote. The event is exclusively for members of the LNB Alumni Association. Tickets are $12 and include lunch from New Braunfels Smokehouse.

New Member Reception

A New Member Reception will be held at the Vineyard at Gruene on Wednesday, February 10, at 4:30 p.m. New members who joined October through January are invited and will be greeted by Chamber Board Members, Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs, Blue Coats and Chamber staff. Chair of the Board Natalie Rougeux will welcome all new members and give a brief description of programs and committees that members can get involved in. New members will then be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and their place of business.
