CEMEX using less blue gold

A local company is doing their part to conserve one of the world’s most precious resources.

Cemex has taken steps to use a dramatically reduced amount of water at its wash plant at the Balcones quarry near New Braunfels. The international company has completed a new water recycling system that will reduce the plant’s water usage by 90 percent.

“Water is used by Cemex during the production process of cement, ready-mix and aggregates, as well as for other processes,” said Scott Ducoff, Cemex USA regional president for Texas and New Mexico. “We recognize the importance of water to local communities, like the 2 million local residents and businesses in and around New Braunfels. We are mindful of the very real water issues this area faces in connection with its continued population growth.”
