Diverse business: Hispanic entrepreneurs add value to the New Braunfels economy

After three years in business for himself, Brandon Acevedo knows what success looks like.

And he knows part of that success he’s seen while operating a New York Life insurance location is attributable to his doing business in New Braunfels.

“It’s a tight-knit community. Word of mouth has helped me grow my business,” he said Friday in his Gruene Road office. “They want to help out. I get a lot of support from local business owners and the people I grew up with.”

172 years ago today New Braunfels was founded! This photo features the historic and majestic Founder's Oak: "Prince Carl of Solms Braunfels, Commissioner General of ‘The Society for the Protection of German Immigrants of Texas,' came to the area in March 1845 and signed a deed for two leagues of land, which included Comal Springs and Founders Oak. Thus was born New Braunfels."
