A terminated condo building in Coral Gables was acquired by Shoma Group, which plans to replace it with a mixed-use project.
Shoma Group purchased the 47 condos at 1515 San Remo Avenue from the individual owners for $15.2 million, plus the sellers' legal and broker fees, said Manny Mato, principal of Coral Gables-based Edgewater Capital, which provided an $11 million acquisition loan for the deal. Ball Corp. is expanding its Aerospace Manufacturing Center in Westminster.
In a Thursday groundbreaking, officials at Colorado-based Ball (NYSE: BLL) and state officials celebrated the planned 145,000-square-foot expansion that's expected to be completed in spring 2019.
Ball said the original facility, which includes design facilities, product manufacturing, test ranges and administrative space, was built in the 1980s and was expanded by 60,000 square feet in 2006.

DivcoWest has purchased an 88,000-square-foot Class A office building near the San Mateo Caltrain Station in the city's downtown.
The six-story property at 101 S. Ellsworth Ave. was sold by an LLC associated with San Mateo-based Glenborough Realty Trust Inc. for $73 million, or about $830 per square foot.
