Business Education Committee Meets to Here Program Reports

BEP image for sub storyThe Chamber’s Business-Education Partnership Committee will meet on Thursday, April 20, at 7:30 a.m. in Honors Hall to discuss several of their current programs. Shannon Dixon, Vice Chair, will preside in the absence of Chris Snider.

The committee is still in need of gently used Pre-K to 4th grade level children’s books. The committee plans to prepare and distribute 1,000 of the Kits for Kids bags at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year in August. Anyone wishing to donate books may contact Rusty Brockman at the Chamber.

The 2017 Back To School Luncheon is set for Thursday, August 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Seekatz Opera House. This will be the 15th year to honor area Teachers of the Year from surrounding school districts. Last year more than 30 attended and were recognized with a certificate, lunch and yellow rose. This year’s event will feature a report by the Juvenile Probation staff on the area school truancy program and an update on the Workforce Stakeholders Task Force efforts in connecting business and industry with local schools.
