At today’s Chamber Board of Directors meeting, Andrew Douglas of Douglas Architects provided an update on the South Castell Avenue Masterplan to redevelop the former City Hall site. The project will cover approximately seven to 10 acres of land at the intersection of Garden Street and Castell Avenue left vacant when City Hall relocated to their new property in 2016.
The guiding principles of the project are to be a high quality, catalytic development that blends into the fabric of downtown, receives broad public support and employs a mix of uses and amenities. The development will include a hotel to accommodate Civic Center needs, residential spaces, retail spaces and office space. It will also include an outdoor plaza, enhanced streetscaping, wider sidewalks with more activity and better parking. Click here to read more about the project.
Also at the board meeting, Larry Alexander received the Blue Coat of the Quarter Award and Joe Timmins received the Senior Blue Coat of the Quarter Award. The Blue Coats also inducted two new life members today: Debbie Meek and Douglas Miller.
