While TROUTFEST is an family fun event that celebrates fly-fishing, the Guadalupe River Chapter of Trout Unlimited (GRTU) is a cold water conservation group that sponsors TROUTFEST as a fundraiser to support the Guadalupe tailwater trout fishery. GRTU spends over $45,OOO annually to support the trout in the Guadalupe River and additionally uses Troutfest as a platform to fund Youth Initiatives to help create future stewards of cold water conservation and allow more kids to enjoy the outdoors.
